After five long years, the follow-up to 2007’s Night Falls Over Kortedala is imminent: Jens Lekman’s I Know What Love Isn’t LP arrives on September 4th, complete with a few tunes previewed in various forms last year and today’s teaser, “Erica America”, streaming below. “Every Little Hair Knows Your Name”, “I Want a Pair of Cowboy Boots”, and Lekman’s excellent 2010 one-off “The End of the World is Bigger Than Love” have all made the cut, with “Every Little Hair…” appearing twice as both the leadoff and closing track. That tune is said to open the set on a sparse note (“echoey upright piano, like a disused one you might find in a schoolroom or church”) before the album employs “an economical palette of sounds.” Perhaps that means we’ll hear the latter version dressed up a bit more after the full record “expands” with strings (“but not a string section”!), tambourine, saxophone, and flute.
For now, hear LP3’s first smooth sax solo and revisit the aforementioned 2010 single after the jump:
