She’s only made two records so far, but given how well Natasha Khan’s sophomore album, Two Suns, built on the promise of her debut as Bat for Lashes, Fur and Gold, I can’t wait to hear the next step. Technically, we have heard a preview in the form of a cut unveiled live at Sydney, Australia’s Vivid festival last summer. But today brings the official LP3 announcement and an early live glimpse at the album’s lead single.
Bat for Lashes’ new record, The Haunted Man, arrives on October 15th, preceded by — according to Khan herself at a UK warmup gig a few hours ago — the piano ballad “Laura”. Also performed tonight in Cambridge, England were new songs “Marilyn”, “A Wall”, the aforementioned track from Sydney, and other previously released material. All of these have hit the web, but if like me you’d rather wait for studio versions, someone caught decent audio of “Laura” that should tide us over until the fall. Check it out at the 1:10 mark, along with last June’s tune, below:
“Laura” (Live in Cambridge, England)
“Oh Yeah” (Live in Sydney, Australia)
