Back in December, reports surfaced that Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood was planning to team up with director Paul Thomas Anderson once again to score The Master, the pair’s collaborative follow-up to 2007’s There Will Be Blood. Now we have a first look (and listen) in the form of a teaser clip centered around Joaquin Phoenix’s character, Freddie Sutton, which features new music bearing an uncanny resemblance to the instrumentation on Greenwood’s “Proven Lands” in the aforementioned Daniel Day-Lewis drama. For that film, Greenwood’s incredible score was notoriously disqualified from receiving an Oscar due to some innocuous technicality, so here’s hoping he and P.T. Anderson have some revenge in store come award season. Either way, this flick looks very promising, musically and otherwise. Check it out above.
