Celebrating the first snowfall of the year in his home base of Edmonton, Doug Hoyer shared an appropriately themed final single off his solo LP, Walks with the Tender and Growing Night, this week: “Snow Bank,” a twee, boy-girl duet about his first kiss. With a hint of Jens in his voice, the song travels from an innocent indie-pop vibe into darker territory for the outro — complete with layered percussion and distorted guitar atmospherics that bring Bright Eyes’ Digital Ash in a Digital Urn to mind. Hear/download the tune, which features recent discovery Jessica Jalbert, above.
