It didn’t seem likely that their haunting take on Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” could be outdone, but Girl Crisis have returned from another half-year hiatus, pushing their consistently eerie formula (blurred lo-fi cinematography, minimalist instrumental backing, cavernous reverb-drenched group harmonies) to new heights with a take on Ace of Base’s ’90s staple. If their ethereal interpretation of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” felt wonderfully creepy, wait until someone (or something) hits the lights at the 2:00 mark above.
