In January, Fionn Regan will follow his raucous, Dylan-inspired sophomore effort, The Shadow of an Empire, with a return to the elegant folk displayed on his debut. Retaining the mature, world-weary scope behind his last effort, 100 Acres of Sycamore finds the Irish singer-songwriter strolling through more familiar pastures: hushed finger-picking and delicate melodies, subtly woven under the weight of inspired lyrical metaphors. In short, Regan conjures the likes of Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, and Bert Jansch while getting more comfortable in his own laudably nuanced approach.
Above, you can watch him sing the title track appropriately under a tree (via Cluster 1). The orchestral-backed studio version is also available to stream/download here.
