Details about the studio where these excellent Ashes & Fire preview videos were filmed have finally come to light in Ryan Adams’ revealing new interview with The Guardian: As it turns out, they were shot at Adams’ very own all-analog studio, recently built in his adopted hometown of Los Angeles. Appropriately named after his record label, PAX-AM studios feature this jaw-dropping collection of vintage gear: a Motown recording console, a mixing desk used by the Beatles and the Doors, Elvis’ engineer’s old vocal mics. “And these,” our favorite alt-country metalhead told Dave Simpson on a tour of the space, “are the speaker mains used on Master of Puppets!” Watch him pull at your heartstrings with album cut “Chains of Love” above.
