Band of Horses’ Tyler Ramsey first joined the band back in 2007 as a support act and tour guitarist just before dropping his solo debut, A Long Dream About Swimming Across the Sea. Now, despite keeping busy as a full-fledged BoH member (sharing the spotlight with frontman Ben Bridwell for a few of his own tunes), the Asheville, North Carolina songwriter has recorded a promising follow-up: The Valley Wind. While the title track should appeal to “Evening Kitchen” fans and the alt-country set alike, the tune truly takes flight with its Neil Young-by-way-of-Mark Kozelek vocal tone and finely honed melodic intuition.
