Back in March, we reported that Numero Group have released “You and Me” — an excellent recording unearthed at a 2006 estate sale that caught the ear of Blue Valentine star Ryan Gosling who convinced director Derek Cianfrance to use it as the soundtrack to a pivotal scene in said film — on vinyl, following the tune’s subsequent buzz. The song’s writer, the late Jay Robinson, had just been discovered at that time, and now the vocalist in front of this timeless gem has also surfaced: Nannie Sharpe, a 62-year-old choir singer — whose nickname is “Penny” — was identified by The Other Paperwhen her daughter was told of the mysterious song in a chance meeting with an Italian record collector.
