Radiohead guitarist/keyboardist Jonny Greenwood unveiled his follow-up to Popcorn Superhet Receiver, a 2005 orchestral composition that went on to inspire his brilliant There Will Be Blood score, for a U.S. premiere at the New York Society for Ethical Culture last week. Doghouse, a piece that debuted in London last year and later informed Greenwood’s score for the film adaptation to Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood, was performed by the 55-piece Wordless Music Orchestra alongside works by Philip Glass and Gyorgy Ligeti. Given the dissonant beauty and evocative textures in his cinematic compositions, I can’t wait to hear what Greenwood, who started out playing violin in high school, has conjured up for his next film score: the Tilda Swinton-starring drama We Need to Talk About Kevin.
