The first video off Saul Williams’ new album, Volcanic Sunlight, offered a relatively seamless transition from his last industrial-infused, Trent Reznor-produced concept record, but our second official taste of LP4, “Dance,” provides a better preview of the vast range of styles Williams has been exploring in his new hometown of Paris, France. “For this album, I wanted to put words that didn’t get in the way of the music,” he said of his dialing back the spoken word/rap elements on this effort. “Before, I always let the words dominate. Music had been more so a release of my anger or of my angst, and that’s part of what I was letting go.” Watch Williams let go of his occult-style hooded robe in favor of a black light-wired dance floor above.
