Kinks singer Ray Davies has not only teamed up with director Julien Temple for a forthcoming biopic on the great English rock band, but he’s also signed on as the executive producer for actor/comedian/director Bobcat Goldthwait’s film musical adaptation of the Kinks’ 1976 album Schoolboys in Disgrace. News of the project moving forward arrived today in a report by ScreenDaily (via Playlist), which included the following exciting bit for fellow Third Man fans: “Musician Jack White is in talks to re-record the music.”
“In talks” is a far cry from an inevitable collaboration, of course, so we won’t hold our breath, but here’s hoping this project recruits White, who’s a proven master of covering classic songs, not to mention a decent actor (if they opt to employ Jack’s inner thespian as well).
