“We try to avoid songs that covered subject matter that most bands have already talked about,” Titus Andronicus drummer Eric Harm explained to the A.V. Club of the band’s choice to take on They Might Be Giants ’90s classic “Birdhouse In Your Soul.”
“…or that would be inconsistent with the subject matter of our other songs,” added frontman Patrick Stickles before the New Jersey rockers played a wonderful recording of Harry Dean Stanton reciting Charles Bukowski poem “Bluebird” and then tore into “Birdhouse” above.
