Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig paid tribute to his musical forebear Paul Simon by covering the 1972 solo song “Papa Hobo” for the soundtrack to upcoming Uma Thurman-starring film Ceremony. You can stream his back-porch, acoustic guitar and mandolin-backed take above (grab the MP3 over at Pitchfork).
In other Vampy Weeks/Simon news, Simon recently dismissed chatter over the similarities between his 1986 album Graceland and VW’s sound in an interview with Vanity Fair: “In a way, we were on the same pursuit, but I don’t think [they]’re lifting from me, and anyway, [they]’re welcome to it, because everybody’s lifting all the time. That’s the way music grows and is shaped.”
