Lisa Hannigan took a break from recording the follow-up to her 2008 solo debut LP, Sea Sew, recently for a pair of performances on Irish television show Other Voices. Neither of which included a preview of new material, unfortunately, but the good news is that Richard Hawley joined Hannigan for a haunting duet rendition of “Hushabye Mountain” before she took on “Moon River” alone, adding even more stunning covers to her resume (a personal favorite is “Personal Jesus”).
In other news, the John Martyn tribute album featuring Beck, the Cure’s Robert Smith, Hannigan, and many others that we mentioned last summer now has a tentative release date of July 12. Looking forward to hearing her take on Martyn’s “Couldn’t Love You More” for that release, as well as a possible studio version of post-Sea Sew live favorite “Passenger” on the sophomore effort.
