And now for the second-biggest Radiohead story of the day… Jonny Greenwood will follow up his 2007 score for There Will Be Blood and this year’s Norwegian Wood with original compositions for director Lynne Ramsay’s We Need to Talk About Kevin, a feature-length drama based on author Lionel Shriver’s novel of the same name. According to The Hollywood Reporter, news broke that Greenwood is scoring the film at the Berlin International Film Festival (where Arcade Fire’s new short film debuted over the weekend).
We Need to Talk About Kevin, which stars Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly, and newcomer Ezra Miller, is currently in post-production with a hopeful premiere tentatively set for Cannes later this year. Based on the synopsis alone, I’d say that the film provides Greenwood with plenty of dramatic plot to inspire his should-be-Oscar-nominated muse:
The mother of a teenage boy who went on a high-school killing spree tries to deal with her grief — and feelings of responsibility for her child’s actions — by writing to her estranged husband.
