Among an unlikely selection of tracks that includes lead actress Emily Browning ambitiously covering Eurythmics, the Smiths, and the Pixies, is one standout addition to the soundtrack of director Zack Snyder’s follow-up to Watchmen (a film that featured quite a few laudable big-budget cuts), Sucker Punch: The Kills/Dead Weather frontwoman Alison Mosshart and Autolux drummer Carla Azar covering the Beatles’ Revolver closer “Tomorrow Never Knows.”
Given the initial pair of excellent previous Mosshart-led covers that spring to mind, Pentagram’s “Forever My Queen” and Velvet Undergound’s “Pale Blue Eyes,” I’m not the least bit worried that she and Azar can take on the Beatles.
The Sucker Punch OST arrives three days before the film hits theaters on March 25, but here’s hoping we’ll get to hear this cut before the drop-date. In the meantime, I’d like to revisit the aforementioned Mosshart-sung tunes — alongside the soundtrack’s tracklist — below:
