When we last checked in with Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche, he had just turned in a wonderful solo performance of the title track off his last LP, Heartbeat Radio. Needless to say, a lot’s happened since then, namely the completion of his sixth full-length studio album. While details are scarce, we can confirm that the yet-untitled effort features producers Kato Ådland and Nicolas Vernhes (who has manned the boards for the likes of Animal Collective, Spoon, and, more recently, Björk and the Dirty Projectors’ Mount Wittenberg Orca EP). The new record is due out this year.
Meanwhile, Lerche dropped two new recordings in December: a previously unreleased track, “Trying To Say Goodbye,” to benefit the charity The Right Track: Tunes to TargetCancer and a cover of Owen Pallett’s “Lewis Takes Off His Shirt” as a free MP3 for the holidays. I can’t wait to hear what Lerche has in store for 2011.
