Between his forthcoming Johnny Depp-directed documentary and a Jack White collaboration reportedly in the works, Keith Richards’ legacy is in very good hands indeed. And now details about a few more notable collaborators to join Depp’s doc have surfaced: “We had Patti Smith, which was miraculous, we had Norah Jones, and I think there’s going to be a few more [performers/interviewees],” Depp told Music Mix.
The most intriguing development, however, is that Pirates of the Caribbean cinematographer/Sweeney Todd DP Dariusz Wolski has been brought onboard to shoot the film’s extensive (one “installment” lasted 35 hours) chats, as well as Richards’ live performances with Smith, Jones, his X-Pensive Winos bandmates, and more “famous guests.” Of the cinematography, Depp says:
[It’s] a cross between The Godfather and a painting by Caravaggio. It’s really something to see Keith in that atmosphere.
Can’t wait to see this attempted masterpiece in the theater (provided it lands big-screen distribution and they subtitle Keith’s priceless rants a bit). Read more details here.
