This morning, PJ Harvey unveiled the first in a 12-part series of Seamus Murphy-directed films set to songs from her forthcoming album, Let England Shake, beginning with “The Last Living Rose,” a much more organic tune than our first taste from the record, “Written On The Forehead.”
Featuring “still and moving images from a 5,000 mile road-trip Murphy undertook around England,” his short films were “inspired and developed from themes” off Harvey’s LP. “The films were made in the manner of classic photographic reportage – recording real & spontaneous situations. They make up a visual diary of Murphys journey, travelling light and alone, and his attempt to document England and the English.” Hear “The Last Living Rose” above and her last new tune below.
