While Jack White’s Third Man Records has hosted a concert starring a comedian before, Conan O’Brien’s summer performance wasn’t technically a comedy show, as it leaned more heavily toward showcasing the musical side of the talk show host’s talents. Now, however, TMR is ready for their first proper full night of comedy, with a live album to follow of course. Next Thursday, comedian/musician Reggie Watts (who opened for Conan on the “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television” tour) will perform at the Nashville venue, where the show will be recorded straight to reel-to-reel analog tape.
A limited-edition black and blue vinyl version of the album will be sold only to those in attendance, but a wider release of LPs will be made available online as well. Click here for ticket info. Meanwhile, Watts made a wonderfully odd promo video for the show, in which he reenacts a phone call with Jack White via creepy dolls.
