Supergroup alert: Australian singer-songwriters Sarah Blasko, Sally Seltmann, and Holly Throsby took to NYC’s Stratosphere Studios back in August to record their debut album as an as-yet-unnamed trio. “[W]e are looking at putting it out in the new year,” Blasko told the Cairns Post of the their forthcoming LP, which, according to Throsby, was recorded by Nick Cave collaborator Victor Van Vugt and features the great Aussie drummer Jim White and bassist Shazad Ismaily.
In a pair of posts on her blog, Blasko discussed the group’s whirlwind, 10-day summer recording sessions, providing a single hint about the inspiration behind one of the Seltmann-penned songs: an excellent video of Stevie Nicks rehearsing vocals while getting her makeup done for a Rolling Stone photo shoot in the ’80s. I can’t wait to hear what this amazing team cooked up in the studio.
