I still haven’t come down from the high of seeing Bonnie “Prince” Billy, the Cairo Gang, Angel Olsen, and friends at a 200-capacity chapel in Sausalito on Friday night. Despite the non-denominational venue, you could have called it the Church of Oldham after their sprawling, stunning, Tony Curtis-honoring set came to a close around midnight. In one of many surprising moments, Olsen, who provide backup harmonies with Emmett Kelly most of the night, took the lead for a face-melting take on the scorned love song “Sweetheart,” which I’m still trying to track down. In the meantime, enjoy a promising cut from her new cassette, Strange Cacti.
