It seemed too good to be true that Laura Marling would follow up I Speak Because I Can — one of the year’s best albums so far — with yet another Ethan Johns-produced LP, and now her plans have, indeed, changed a bit. “It’s not going to be this year, but it’s good,” she told NME, adding:
It will be on its way soon, which is nice. It’s becoming different from the last album actually, because I’ve scrapped a bit of it halfway through. I hope to have it done by February.
Thankfully, we still have this gorgeous take on Johnny Flynn’s “The Water” (performed at Marling’s home garden) to enjoy while we wait.
