“Destroyer and Okkervil River are currently in a tight race for 2011’s album of the year,” proclaimed the New Pornographers’ A.C. Newman back in July, revealing the existence of two inevitably solid LPs for us to eagerly anticipate in coming months. While an announcement from Will Sheff and Co. has yet to hit the wires, Destroyer mastermind Dan Bejar unveiled official details today on his ‘11 effort: Kaputt, the full-length follow-up to ‘08’s Trouble in Dreams produced by David Carswell and John Collins, arrives January 25 via Merge.
Opening the 9-track LP is “Chinatown,” which Bejar previewed on tour last fall. Hear a great recording of his solo acoustic rendition over at Rawkblog, check out the album cover above, and get acquainted with the full tracklist after the cut.
