The list of notable LPs set for next year (Fiona, PJ, Jason, Chan, etc.) grows longer as stadium-filling acts like the Beastie Boys, R.E.M., and U2 have all revealed new album plans for the first half of 2011 in recent days. Let’s round ‘em up…
From the official Beastie Boys website: “Although we regret to inform you that Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 will continue to be delayed indefinitely, Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 will be released on time as originally planned in spring of 2011.”
R.E.M. manager Bertis Downs to BBC’s 6 Music: “We’re very happy with the record. They made [Collapse Into Now] in Berlin over the summer and then finished up in Nashville just a couple of weeks ago, so we expect to put it out in the spring. It has more ballads but also lots of straight ahead rockers.”
U2’s the Edge talks to Irish Times: “I would expect a new U2 album [possibly titled Sons of Ascent] sooner than anybody thinks. I would guess early 2011 before the next leg of the American tour which starts in May.”
