While Joel and Ethan Coen’s last three films, No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading, and A Serious Man, were among my favorite cinematic experiences of the past 5 years, they all fell a bit short on notable musical moments (aside from the Fugs’ “Cia Man” of course, which appeared in BAR). Well, the trailer for their latest, Jeff Bridges-starring film, True Grit, was unleashed today (via the Playlist), and perhaps we have an excellent soundtrack on the way of O Brother, Where Art Thou?-esque proportions.
Featured in the teaser trailer above is a gorgeous yet ominous version of Mosie Lister’s gospel classic “Where No One Stands Alone,” performed by Nashville’s The Peasall Sisters. Here’s hoping the Coen Brothers have teamed up with T Bone Burnett again, and maybe even enlisted The Secret Sisters, as well. Hear the full a cappella recording below.

**Update: A new trailer has arrived, featuring Johnny Cash’s “God’s Gonna Cut You Down.” Watch the new preview and hear Cash’s song below:
