According to an interview with Elvira’s Movie Macabre star Cassandra Peterson by Mondo (via Some Kind of Awesome), Jack White has written produced a brand new theme song for the television return of the ’80s B-grade horror show. Here’s where Peterson revealed the amazing news:
Jack White did this song with this little group he put together called The Black Belles, and it’s gonna be my theme song. It’s kinda spooky and cool – you guys are gonna dig it, man. We’re gonna make a vinyl out of it. Day-Glo vinyl!
The new theme song was written by the Belles’ Olivia Jean. Fortunately, we’ve already gotten a taste of White’s previous collaboration with his Third Man Records-signed The Black Belles in the form of their 7-inch single “What Can I Do?” earlier this year. The new version of Elvira’s Movie Macabre is set to air on September 25, but I’ll be looking out for the inevitable Third Man announcement regarding that Day-Glo vinyl in the meantime. (Thanks to Nashville Scene, as well, for uncovering this rad story.)
