While their soulful, self-titled single offered plenty of proof that Dhani Harrison, Ben Harper, and Joseph Arthur’s new group, Fistful of Mercy, is greater than the sum of its parts, I’ve been hoping to hear a cut from the trio that sounds as fun as the promo pictures and studio footage suggests they’re having. Enter “Father’s Son.”
Needless to say, it’s a thrill to hear George Harrison’s talented kid belt out the opening verse off Fistful of Mercy’s new foot-stomping, gospel-tinged jam: “My father he done told me to never, ever hurt no one, but now I’m sick at night and I’ve been caught red-handed and I’m still my father’s son.” Give the song, which premiered on Spinner last week, a spin below (via SKoA):
