Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett have both Golden Globe and Oscar trophies on their shelves, but the 29-year-old Los Angeles singer and alt-country producer du jour aren’t letting the post-award season hype gather any dust. The pair have taken the winning formula behind their lauded tune, “The Weary Kind,” and constructed Bingham’s next LP less than six months following their black-tie winter.
Junky Star, Bingham’s third solo album, will drop on September 7th via (Ryan Adams’ former label) Lost Highway Records, GTR reports. Whereas Burnett co-wrote their best known hit, Bingham wrote and performed this 12-track effort all on his own, backed by longtime band the Dead Horses.
In conjunction with yesterday’s announcement, Bingham and co. are now streaming two album cuts, “Depression” and “Hallelujah” (no, not another Leonard Cohen cover, thank god), on their official site.
