Their 2007 album, Nothing Is Okay, was one of the most gorgeously heartbreaking records I heard that year, making the Everybodyfields‘ split two years later quite the bittersweet event: Part of me knew Jill Andrews and Sam Quinn would turn those newfound woes into beautiful songs. And while their subsequent solo projects pulled through to that end (Quinn made one of the saddest LPs ever, in fact), it yanks at my heartstrings—in the best of ways—to hear these two sing together again.
As Strangers Almanac (aka Speakers in Code) pointed to last week, Andrews and Quinn reunited on a porch, possibly somewhere in Tennessee, for this duet of Lucinda Williams’ apropos “Something About What Happens When We Talk” in late May. Here’s hoping this adorbs rendition marks a new beginning…
