In the first ever White House reception honoring Jewish American Heritage Month, Regina Spektor performed a solo piano set for President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Biden, and others in Washington, DC yesterday. Fortunately for those of us who didn’t make the White House guest list, Spektor’s performance of “Us” off Soviet Kitsch and “The Sword & the Pen” from last year’s Far were both captured on video for a glimpse into the intimate event.
“Having moved to America from Soviet Russia as a child with my family, we dreamed of reconnecting with our religious traditions and of making America our home,” Spektor said in a statement prior to the show. “Having lived here for over twenty years, it is an unimaginable honor to be invited to the White House.” Watch Spektor sing for the president and co. below:
