Will Oldham, aka Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and Emmett Kelly of the Cairo Gang played a string of über-intimate gigs (we’re talking 300 people max) in Oakland, Brooklyn, New Orleans, and Delaware’s Rehoboth Beach last month, sans microphones or PA equipment. The lucky few in attendance were invited into Oldham and Kelly’s proverbial unplugged living room for a spontaneous acoustic set of duets from the pair’s new album, The Wonder Show Of The World, as well as a few songs from Oldham’s back catalog (yes, they played “I See a Darkness”).
Fortunately for us, a YouTuber caught Kelly and Oldham’s set at Brooklyn’s Monster Island Basement on video and has uploaded parts of the Wonder Show for the world.
