Hot off the heels of their now-critically-lauded fifth LP, Together, Neko Case and the New Pornographers stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight for a hype-validating performance of “The Crash Years.” Case and A.C. Newman, backed by a cello, Edge-esque Gibson Explorer, and Apple laptop are hard to beat, let alone describe, so we’ll be wallflowers in this particular archeology dance (watch it below).
Earlier in the night, however, Roger Waters, the rock legend who perhaps now regrets ever sending a rep to a certain wall in L.A., entertained Fallon’s incessant giggling for a chat in which uncomfortable Sid Barrett questions were asked. Waters clarifies his former friend/bandmate’s Schizophrenic affliction, and even sadly recalls Barrett’s initially unrecognizable arrival at the recording sessions for Waters’ Sid tribute song, “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” to Fallon: “It’s not a funny story,” he tells Fallon. “I had no idea who this person was. This was my closest childhood friend.”
