**Correction Below.
At least a few times per year, a film trailer hits screens/interwebs in which the music is as intriguing as the teaser footage. Ryan Bingham’s “The Weary Kind,” for example, all but stole the show in the Crazy Heart trailer last fall. Director Chrisopher Nolan’s new trailer for Inception is another example.
That otherworldly drone got much further under my skin than Leo DiCaprio’s drama skills. So was it Hans Zimmer? Danny Elfman? Jonny Greenwood perhaps?
The Playlist discovered that the trailer score is based on Mike Zarin of Sencit Music‘s music in a song arranged by Zack Hemsey.
**Update: A lot more information has come out since May, of course, including the amazing fact that sounds featured in the film and the composition originally attributed to Hemsey (arrangement) and Sencit Music (theme) by the Playlist and others are, in fact, a manipulation of Edith Piaf’s “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” by the great Hans Zimmer.
