Okay, it’s time to put our hyping of Jim O’Rourke’s new Burt Bacharach covers record to rest. But not without one more streaming cut from his brilliant tribute album to end all tribute albums. The opening track off All Kinds of People ~Love Burt Bacharach~ features Wilco’s Glenn Kotche on the drums, O’Rourke himself, and Haruomi Hosono playing Bacharach’s “(They Long to Be) Close to You,” a song that managed to top charts for the likes of Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield, and, most famously, the Carpenters.
