We’re only two songs into the Gaslight Anthem’s forthcoming album, American Slang, and so far, so good, boys. Don’t know how this New Jersey based quartet manages to record songs that feel like they’ve been around for years while masterfully leaning to the right side of the line between fresh jams and retro schtick, but they sure do. It’s obvious to point out that Gaslight Anthem always sound like they’re fighting for something in a post about their new single, “Boxer,” but it’s too true not to note. What are they fighting for? Perhaps to “remember that song and the reasons that we were singing for,” as Brian Fallon sings in their new tune, which is currently streaming on their MySpace page. “[The Boxer] swears some day he’s gonna find it.”
