As further proof that Will Oldham doesn’t reserve his acting chops for only serious roles, Bonnie “Prince” Billy dressed himself in a sombrero and full mariachi getup for his turn in Hombre Sencillo, a video for his cover of Graham Nash’s “Simple Man.”
In the clip, directed by Britt Govea and Brian Ziffer, Oldham awakens from a dream to find his new mariachi costume in a chest beneath a batch of tall grass. He promptly throws on his new garb and serenades various women to his take on Nash’s song, which will appear alongside covers by Brendan Benson, Nash’s daughter Nile, Johnathan Rice, Alela Diane, and many more on the forthcoming tribute compilation Be Yourself: A Tribute to Graham Nash’s Songs for Beginners.
