It has only been three months since Vampire Weekend dropped their lauded, chart-topping second album, Contra, but the boys are already plotting to release some new tunes this year. In an interview with BBC 6Music, frontman Ezra Koenig assured us that new material from NYC’s indie kings of Billboard is on the immediate horizon.
“Physically a lot of our energy and our time is going to be taken up by touring but little by little we’ll start to do stuff,” he said, teasing later, “We’ll still be releasing music in other ways, we have a few little things we’ve worked on that’ll come out this year.”
As it turns out, Vampire Weekend’s inspiration for a follow-up to Contra is nothing new: “[D]efinitely we started talking about the next album as soon as we finished this one,” said Koenig.
