**Update: The new Walkmen album, Lisbon, won’t drop in the summer after all, but has been set for a September 14 release date.
Forgive me for posting such a tiny update on the Walkmen, but (A) this is one of our most anticipated records of 2010 and (B) the summer is looking quite exciting with regard to new releases. Appearing in GQ (via Crumbler), decked out in swanky garb that I (and they probs) could never afford, singer Hamilton Leithauser and his fellow Walkmen dropped a hint or two about their forthcoming fifth LP of original songs.
As the headline above reveals, the article states that their “as-yet-untitled album [drops] mid-June.” And now for the tease: “Our engineer was lecturing me on how this new album needs to sound more like the Walkmen,” said Leithauser.
This statement falls in line with earlier comments that the record could be “a White Album kind of a deal,” complete with “stuff that’s Elvis-sounding, like early Elvis and Sun Records kind of sounds.” Mark your calendars, people: less than two months till liftoff.
