It’s been an odd week for Arcade Fire stalkers (like us): Win Butler and friends had kept details surrounding the promotion for their forthcoming album under wraps until /Film posted an exclusive report yesterday, claiming that Where the Wild Things Are director Spike Jonze is casting actors in their late teens for a short film collaboration with Arcade Fire about “friends growing apart.”
The band’s rep quickly said “shhh” denied the story, but alas, Jonze’s spokesperson confirmed the report to MTV today. Though details are scant of course, anyone who’s seen Jonze’s recent short films “I’m Here” or “We Were Once a Fairytale,” starring Kanye West, should have a pretty good grasp of what this intriguing project might entail.
Meanwhile, if you’re a kid in your late teens in Austin, Texas: let the wild rumpus begin!
