Awful, sad news: You Say Party! We Say Die! drummer Devon Clifford died early this morning after collapsing onstage in Vancouver, B.C. on Friday night, Spinner and Vancouver’s Globe & Mail reports. He was only 30.
According to various reports and updates on the band’s official Twitter page, Clifford was rushed to the hospital around midnight after falling ill at the Rickshaw Theatre. Though no official cause of death has been released, Clifford is believed to have suffered a brain hemorrhage, which doctors attempted to treat with emergency neurosurgery at 3AM on Saturday morning, before being placed on life support until today.
Paper Bag Records, You Say Party! We Say Die!’s record label released the following statement about the tragedy:
It is with absolute sadness to report that our dear friend Devon Clifford, the drummer of You Say Party We Say Die, passed away last night in a Vancouver hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
The all-ages Rickshaw Theatre show was the band’s last North American gig before they were scheduled to head out on a massive European tour this spring and early summer.
Our hearts go out to Clifford’s friends, bandmates, and family.
