Robert Smith teased us earlier this year about three upcoming collaborations, in addition to his contribution to the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack, and though we were hoping a new album from the Cure was on the agenda, this new tune with Sheffield, England’s 65daysofstatic and forthcoming John Martyn cover song will have to suffice. 65daysofstatic are now streaming “Come To Me” from their latest album, We Were Exploding Anyway, on MySpace, which features Smith as the instrumental prog-rock band’s guest frontman.
Smith’s voice has remained brilliantly intact for at least 30 years now, and though new recordings from the Cure singer have been few and far between lately, this epic 8-minute track should provide plenty of those classic emoted Smithisms for our ears to chew on this week.
