After a tumultuous couple of years spent waiting for her Dresden Dolls contract with Roadrunner Records to expire, Amanda Palmer announced that she’ll (hopefully) never have to write another “Please Drop Me” song again. “I am very happy to announce today that i have finally been released from my contract,” she wrote in a blog titled “FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST (Dear Roadrunner Records).”
To celebrate her newfound freedom, Palmer is offering a new song, “legally and free of charge” for the first time since 2003. The song, dubbed “The Truth,” is an autobiographically-themed tune, which jumps from a story about being 6 years old in the first verse to the present day, stopping along the way to describe other moments/thoughts from her eventful 33-year life so far.
