An appearance by one of our favorite bands on our favorite online live video series just about made my morning. Wilco let the talented folks at La Blogothèque film a performance of “Country Disappeared” from their latest record, Wilco (The Album), and the results are (as always) well worth a minute or two of your time.
Though there was no time to wander the streets or film in front of a landmark (it was raining that day), Jeff Tweedy and company assembled in the back of Montreal’s Olympia Theatre prior to that night’s gig for an intimate one-song set, directed by Derrick Belcham. Singing without a vocal microphone or being filmed for an impromptu performance is certainly nothing new to Tweedy or Wilco, which makes them an even more perfect match for La Blogothèque’s off-the-cuff format.
