Though we weren’t happy that Northern California’s own Joanna Newsom excluded the Bay Area in her U.S. tour this month and part of April, this free stream from the tour’s kick-off show in Washington, D.C. last night provides some consolation, I suppose.
Newsom took to the stage of D.C.’s Sixth & I Historic Synagogue last night and NPR got the whole show on tape. Aside from Newsom’s harp of course, she is also accompanied by various other instruments throughout the set, including a banjo, drums, electric guitar, and — according to the AV Club — Bulgarian tambura.
Loving all the free live albums of late! Stream the Newsom’s entire 1.5-hour concert here (and please donate to these good people if possible).
