Care to check out the “first and only duet of Glenn Danzig’s entire career”? Sure, that comes somewhat out of the blue following Monsters of Folk and Crowded House posts, but Danzig has not only been an influence on many of the artists we stalk around here (Ryan Adams, Will Oldham, etc.), he’s also one of the most important rock singers still kicking, in my book.
Melissa Auf der Maur’s new record, Out Of Our Minds, aka OOOM, was released digitally today and, to our delight, she dropped one of those brilliant Topspin widgets for all to listen to the album before purchase.
The duet, “Father’s Grave,” is a perfect match for the pair, as the lyrics consist of a conversation between a gravedigger (Danzig) and a grieving woman (Auf der Maur) whose father recently passed away. Stream the song below, as well as the entire album:
