As Nina Nastasia and Jim White’s 2007 album, You Follow Me, was one of my favorites of that year, I’d be remiss in not disclosing my anticipation for her forthcoming follow-up to that brilliant effort. For Folk’s Sake reports that Nastasia will release Outlaster, her first album in three years, on June 7.
Nastasia not only tapped her longtime endorser/collaborator/rock icon Steve Albini to produce the record, but she has also recruited Aimee Mann’s right-hand man, Paul Bryan, to arrange the songs for a “mini orchestra.”
Can’t wait to hear what they’ve cooked up. “Cry, Cry Baby,” the first single will hit the airwaves, and presumably internets, in two months.
