Let’s clear out a few bookmarks from the folder. Here are some quick links of note…
- I had no idea that Ted Leo and the Pharmacists have covered songs ranging from Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand’s “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” to Samhain’s “Archangel” to ABBA’s “Take a Chance on Me”, but You Ain’t No Picasso has compiled a whopping MP3 list of proof that Leo and friends are, in fact, unstoppable cover song enthusiasts.
- Only 9 days after posting their “please-make-me-viral video” to “This Too Shall Pass,” OK Go have racked up almost 7 million views on YouTube. Perfect time to split with the label!
- Remember that PS22 Chorus video that briefly turned me into an emo fanboy for kids choirs? Flavorwire posted nine more covers from our favorite 5th grade singing troupe. :’(
- Haven’t seen any interviews with Joanna Newsom on any blogs or major music sites, and I think I know why: nowadays she only talks to Time, Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times. The Times’ piece is my favorite because they prove that the best person to truly expose her “folk-camp-shredder mentality” is a reporter embedded in Nevada City, CA.
