Back in 2008, Black Keys frontman, Blakroc ringleader, and solo artist Dan Auerbach produced one of my favorite singer-songwriter albums in recent memory: Jessica Lea Mayfield’s With Blasphemy So Heartfelt. Now Auerbach has teamed up with Mayfield’s brother/collaborator David Mayfield and the rest of his Nashville-based rock/bluegrass band Cadillac Sky to produce their forthcoming album Letters in the Deep.
“They rose to the occasion,” Auerbach said of the 5-day recording session at his Ohio studio, Akron Analog. “There’s some really beautiful sounds on Letters in the Deep, it is as much of a living album as it is an art piece and I’m definitely proud to have my name attached to this project.”
Letters in the Deep isn’t due out until June 8th via Dualtone Music and the band independently, but Cadillac Sky are offering a free download of the song “Hangman” for you to sample in the meantime here.
